National chair welcomes new Branch Council

The national chair of the Police Federation joined Gwent’s seven new workplace representatives and those re-elected to their posts for their first Branch Council meeting.

Gwent Police Federation chair Steve Thorpe thanked John Apter for attending the meeting and speaking to officers.

“I’d like to thank John for joining us for what was a really good first meeting of the Branch Council,” said Steve.

“All our reps were really impressed with his openness and candour and have been inspired to go that extra yard for their colleagues.

“It was a fantastic introduction to the Federation for our new reps and also went down brilliantly with those reps who were returning to the Branch Council after the summer elections.”

The seven new reps – Gareth Brown, Alex Dallimore, Matthew Edmunds, Craig Ellis, Darrell Hoare, Spencer Love and Jennie Tinsley-Brustad – are currently going through their induction and training.
